From 4 to 7 August, Tallinn will host the 57th International Children’s Games (ICG). Recognised by the International Olympic Committee, the ICG is the world’s largest multi-sport event for 12–15-year-olds, where teams representing cities compete against each other.

Europe’s leading street sports and culture platform “Ghetto Games” invites everyone to experience the most athletic festival of the summer in Estonia’s capital, Tallinn, on July 12–13. For two days, Freedom Square in the city center will be transformed into a vibrant arena for street basketball, street football, dance and fight shows, as well as contests and various activities. Free training sessions led by top athletes will be held at Sõle Sports Center, Tallinn Athletics Hall, and Tondiraba Ice Hall, with winter swimming opportunities available in Pirita and Nõmme.

The 2025 city budget prioritizes promoting active lifestyles among Tallinners and developing sports infrastructure, with a total allocation of €36.4 million for operating and investment costs in the sports and physical activity sector.

At a gala held in Brussels, the president of the European Capitals and Cities of Sport Federation (ACES Europe), Gian Francesco Lupattelli, and European Commissioner for Culture and Sport, Glenn Micallef, presented Tallinn with the title of European Capital of Sport 2025.
