Sports Morning invites all Tallinners to get active

Sports Morning invites all Tallinners to get active

On November 22, the tenth annual Sports Morning will kick off, inviting residents to start their day actively. Free training sessions led by top athletes will be held at Sõle Sports Center, Tallinn Athletics Hall, and Tondiraba Ice Hall, with winter swimming opportunities available in Pirita and Nõmme.

Deputy Mayor Kaarel Oja emphasized the event’s significance in promoting a healthier city. “This is a great opportunity to start the day actively and remind everyone that moderate exercise is essential year-round,” said Oja. “Next year, Tallinn will hold the title of European Capital of Sport, through which we aim to further highlight the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle. The European Capital of Sport events are here to encourage Tallinners to move more and provide them with even more opportunities. As our slogan says, ‘One more lap!’”

The training session at Sõle Sports Center will be led by the TalTech/ALEXELA basketball team, while Olympic champion Gerd Kanter will guide exercises at the Tallinn Athletics Hall. At Tondiraba Ice Hall, curling will be introduced by Karl Kukner and Marten Padama, while figure skaters Aleksandr Selevko and Niina Petrõkina will offer balance tips on the ice. Winter swimming enthusiasts can also join sessions at the Pirita Winter Swimming Center and Nõmme Sports Center, with instructors on hand. Sauna facilities will be available after the invigorating dip.

All sessions will be held from 8:00–9:00 a.m., and beginners and advanced enthusiasts are welcome.

As a gift, participants will receive a ten-session pass to one of Tallinn’s sports centers: Sõle Sports Center, Tallinn Athletics Hall, Lasnamäe Ice Park, or Nõmme Sports Center.

This event is free for everyone, but pre-registration is required. More information and the registration form are available on the Tallinn website: tallinn.ee/spordihommik.

Schools are also invited to join the Sports Challenge, aiming to collectively complete one million squats on November 22. Top participants will receive awards. Further information about the challenge will be sent to schools and kindergartens via email.
