Saturday, 20 August marks thirty-one years since Estonia regained its independence. To celebrate this, a wide range of free concerts and family days will be held across Tallinn.

With the ongoing heatwave, it is important to remember that higher temperatures require bigger water consumption. There are dozens of public water taps in Tallinn where anyone can get clean drinking water for free.

The Tallinn City Property Department has launched a design competition for the Päikene and Pääsupesa kindergartens in the Põhja-Tallinn district to find environmentally sustainable solutions that would allow for the flexible adaptation of factory-made wooden modules to the kindergarten's needs. The deadline for submission of tenders is 11 October at 10 am.

In March this year, Tallinn launched a free Museum Sundays initiative at city-owned museums to raise awareness of museum activities and improve access to culture. Today, the City of Tallinn signed a design and construction contract with Merko Ehitus Eesti AS and KMG Inseneriehituse AS for the construction of a tram line connecting Tallinn Old City Harbour and the future Ülemiste Terminal. The cost of the contract is €36.5 million plus VAT, and the construction works are due in February 2025.

The proposed health trail in the Sütiste forest park on the border of Nõmme and Mustamäe will not be built. Further development of the Sütiste forest will be decided by the property's manager, the Estonian Environmental Board.

Tehnopol Science and Business Park is taking part in the Urban Tech project since last year. Start-ups and SMEs can now apply for funding of up to 55,000 euros for innovative technological solutions in the areas of Smart City, Green Tech and Health Tech as part of the EU project URBAN TECH.

From August 1, 2022, applications for "Bike to School" support can be submitted in Tallinn. A one-time subsidy of up to 100 euros is intended for the purchase of a bicycle for children aged 10–15 who have received their cyclist driving licenses this year, i.e. in 2022.

Due to the Tallinn Open Triathlon that will be held in the vicinity of Lake Harku, the section of Paldiski Road from the shore of Lake Harku (Paldiski Road 124a) up to the city limit will be closed on Sunday, 24 July from 9.30 am to 5.50 pm. At the same time, the trajectory of the bus lines 27, 36, 61 and 62 will change from 10 am to 6 pm.
