On Thursday, 28 March the exhibition “Estonian Heads of State 1918-2018” by the Estonian Heritage Society was opened in Tallinn City Government building.
The photo exhibition “Our own” – a series of portraits featuring members of all the different ethnic groups living in our small country – is on display in Tammsaare Park.
Due to the construction of Reidi tee, the road section for left turn to Narva maantee will be closed for drivers heading from Pirita towards the centre as of today, 25 March, and a week later, on 1 April once the traffic islands have been reconstructed the road section for turning right from Narva maantee towards Pirita will be closed too. Traffic at the junction of Ahtri tänav will be partly disturbed.
The draft Order of the Tallinn City Government authorises the Defence Forces to hold a parade celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Estonia and sets out the traffic arrangements for 23 and 24 February 2014 applicable to Toompea, Vabaduse väljak and the surrounding streets. The Defence Forces are relieved from the road and street closure tax and any expenses related to rerouting public transport as well as any parking fees. Further, the draft Order sets out the traffic arrangements applicable during the open air concert “Aja mustrid” (“Patterns of time”) held on Islandi väljak on 24 February 2019.
In recent years Tallinn has built a number of new nursery schools and reconditioned classrooms but there are still many older nurseries in need of a complete makeover. This year, Sitsi and Männikäbi nurseries will undergo renovation.
Last year the City of Tallinn launched an accessibility programme which has already helped to improve the accessibility of seven municipal agencies and the Tallinn Chamber of Disabled People. Further 22 buildings providing public services should be made accessible by the end of 2020.
According to provisional statistics, foreign residents made 4.6 million visits to Tallinn which is a bit more than in the preceding year and spent an estimated 1.05 billion euros here which is exceeds the figure for the preceding year by 3%.
