Таllinn Sports School

According to Tallinn City Council’s Decision No 76 dated 16 May 2024, the Tallinn Sports School, which is managed by the Tallinn Culture & Sports Department, will be closed on 30 June 2024.

As of 1 July 2024, the activities of the Tallinn Sports School will be taken over by the Tallinn Culture & Sports Department, under the measure support for high-performance youth sports.

The aim of supporting high-performance youth sports is to enable 11–19- and in some cases up to 23-year-old athletes, whose place of residence, according to the Estonian population register, is Tallinn, to engage in high-performance sports.

For this purpose, additional training which is necessary for high-achieving athletes to meet their goals is organised based on the athlete’s needs, prerequisites and level of preparation, providing in-depth knowledge of the specific sport and ensuring international competitive performance.

Grant agreements for the 2021-2023 period have been signed and support will be provided for the following sports: épée fencing, figure skating, rhythmic gymnastics, judo, ice hockey, karate, combined track and field events, speed skating, basketball, handball, biathlon, wrestling, boxing, sailing, beach volleyball, badminton, taekwondo, tennis, swimming, volleyball, a combined group of different individual sports, in total
501 high-achieving young athletes.
