From 7 March, construction works will start for the first phase of the Vanasadama tramline, causing changes in the traffic regulation in the city center. The construction will begin on Gonsiori and Laikmaa streets, which will lead to the closure of Gonsiori street in the direction out of the city center between Laikmaa and Reimani streets and Laikmaa street between Gonsiori and Narva mnt towards Narva mnt.
On Monday, 20 February, at 10 am traffic regulations will change on Pronksi street. On Pronksi and Jõe streets one lane will be opened on both streets in both directions.
Due to Vanasadama tramway construction, the northern section of Ahtri Street between Paadi and Laeva streets will be closed to traffic from 10:00 on Tuesday, 9 May. The traffic changes will affect the routes of bus lines 20, 20A, 34 and 66.
The construction of the Vanasadam tramway will cause traffic changes in the area around the intersection of Kursi Street and Põhja pst. until mid-September. From Tuesday 6 June, the section of Kursi Street in front of the Tallinn Creative Hub will be closed to traffic. From 26 June, the intersection of Põhja pst. and Kursi Street will also be closed.
From Monday, 3 July, the Narva mnt-Hobujaama-Laikmaa intersection will be closed as part of the next stage of the Vanasadam tramway construction. As such, tram lines 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be halted until the end of August. Viru terminal will be temporarily closed and public transport redirected.
Tallinn City has successfully reached the end of talks with all landowners in the area for constructing a tram and pedestrian pathway connecting Vanasadama and the Rail Baltic to the Ülemiste Travel Terminal and ensuring its openness to the public.
Kursi Street and Põhja pst. intersections will be closed to traffic from 24 July to 30 September due to construction works on the Vanasadama tramway. The locations of the bus stops for bus lines 3, 66 and 73 will be relocated for the duration of the construction.
Temporary tram line no. 6, which was created due to construction works on the Vanasadama tram line, will continue operating on the Tondi-Kopli route at least until the end of September, when tram traffic on all other lines has been restored. Tram lines no. 2 and 4 will restart operation at the beginning of September, with no. 1 and 3 doing so at the start of October. The city is considering the possibility of having line no. 6 operate on a permanent basis.
