During the last two weekends of October, residents of Tallinn can once again give away hazardous waste free of charge. On October 23, hazardous waste are collected in Kesklinn and Lasnamäe, on October 24 in Kristiine and Põhja-Tallin, on October 30 in Pirita and Mustamäe, and on October 31 in Haabersti and Nõmme.
Tallinn's draft city budget for next year proposes a total of €41 million for operating expenditure and investment in the area of urban assets, with a focus on developing municipal and social housing, supporting housing associations and improving the energy efficiency of city-owned buildings.
Consumers have two contracts for the supply of electricity - one with an electricity retailer to buy electricity and one with a network operator to use network services. In an apartment building, residents can either buy electricity under an individual contract, by choosing their own electricity supplier and package, or through the housing association. If the electricity is bought by a housing association, the electricity supplier and package are chosen by a majority vote in the general meeting of the apartment owners.
According to an analysis of energy consumption in the first quarter, in the first three months of this year, Tallinn saved almost 2.58 million kWh of energy from the energy costs of city buildings, or more than €290,000 at average energy prices for the period.
