Opening Ceremony of the European Capital of Sport
Tallinn has been named the 25th European Capital of Sport, adding a special celebratory touch to this prestigious milestone. As the Capital of Sport, Tallinn will serve as a driving force for sports and physical activity across Europe. Our mission is to host a year-long calendar of diverse sports events and activities, engaging both athletes and spectators, to promote awareness of healthy lifestyles and inspire everyone to get moving.
We warmly invite you to join us on January 18th at 5:00 PM at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds to celebrate the grand opening of our year as the European Capital of Sport. The evening’s program will feature a spectacular performance by the Kelfirius dancers, along with Estonia’s renowned female drummer Hele-Riin Uib-Pachel and a dynamic ensemble of talented female drummers.
The celebration will reach its climax at 5:30 PM with a special guest performance by LORDI, the Eurovision-winning band from Finland. If sports are about overcoming challenges and never backing down, LORDI embodies that same bold spirit, fearlessly embracing their unique identity. Why celebrate such a monumental achievement alone? Let’s share this joyous occasion with our friends and neighbors from the north!
