The Exhibition “THE CHALLENGE – The Innovation of Italian Design in Sports”
The Embassy of Italy in Tallinn is proud to present “THE CHALLENGE: The Innovation of Italian Design in Sports” (LA SFIDA: L’Innovazione del design italiano nello sport), an international exhibition that showcases the dynamic fusion of sport, technology, and creativity through the excellence of Italian industrial design and the hallmark of Made in Italy.
Curated by ADI – the Association for Industrial Design – and promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI), THE CHALLENGE is a visual journey through decades of Italian innovation in sport. From the 1960s to today, the exhibition presents inventive, high-tech solutions designed to enhance both athletic performance and user experience — all driven by creativity, engineering, precision, and a deep commitment to detail.
With a long-standing tradition of excellence, Italian design has left a lasting impact on the aesthetics, functionality, and safety of sports equipment. The exhibition opens with iconic pieces that have left their mark on Italy’s sporting history and collective imagination, including:

The exhibition will tour internationally, kicking off in Tallinn, where it will be open to the public from April 14 to 20, 2025, at Tallinna Kergejõustikuhall (Herne 30). Admission is free and open to all — inviting sports lovers, students, design professionals, and curious minds alike to experience this celebration of Italian creativity in motion.

- The legendary Moon Boots, inspired by astronauts' footwear and turned global fashion symbol;
- Roberto Baggio’s iconic football boots;
- The Pinarello track bike, engineered to shatter Olympic records;
- Ergonomic gaming chairs;
- Plus: high-performance ski suits, smart helmets, skates, sails, and cutting-edge prototypes.
