Tallinn, the European Capital of Sport, lets visitors discover Naissaar on Saturday, 19 April. The hike is free of charge, but pre-registration is required, which will be opened on 31 March in the Tallinn e-shop.
NB! When booking a ticket, please use your correct first and last name and contact information. When booking a ticket for a friend, please use their correct first and last name and contact information. Otherwise, you will not be allowed on the ship!
The secretariat of the event is located in the Tallinn Seaplane Harbour, where boarding takes place. Boarding will take place from 08:00 at the Tallinn Seaplane Harbour wharf. The exact departure place of the ferries can be found here.
Please arrive on time, as the ferries depart according to schedule! Hikers should arrive at the harbour about 20 minutes before the departure time.
On the southern part of the island, it is possible to follow either a 12 km or an 8 km trail, which will take participants to discover the Lõunaküla village of Naissaare, the military museum there and, of course, the Naissaare church. The second half of the route will take you to the sea mine depots and factory. The southern trail of the island is an easier hike, suitable for beginners and hikers with a leisurely pace as well as families. Interested hikers can make their way to the start of the 8 km trail by taking a local retro bus, and by train along the narrow-gauge tracks.
The island's 12 km northern trail includes a lighthouse at the northern tip of the island and several military buildings. We will also visit the best-preserved coastal battery in Estonia (10A) and climb to the top of the island's tallest hill! As the northern trail runs underground for about 1 km, you will need a headlamp. The north trail of the island has a more challenging profile than the south trail and is suitable for more active hikers. Hikers will travel from the harbour to the start of the northern trail in former military trucks.
You will hike the trail together with Estonian Nordic Walking Association instructors, who will conduct a beginners' training course on arrival at Naissaar and guide the group throughout the trip. Walking poles will be offered free of charge to all who wish to use them.
It is also possible to go on the trail in a group with a guide, who will take you on an exciting walk, telling interesting stories about the sights of Naissaar and hiking as a whole.
There is an 8 km marked trail that is also suitable for children in pushchairs, but you must have your own pushchair suitable for hiking.
